Communicating with media

We are a B2C business.

A client of ours has contacted a radio station to pursue his grievances after being served by us. Information provided by him is not the true representation of the case. We have informed the radio station that information received by them from the client is untrue. The radio station is asking for the details of the case.

My question- even though we have all the email evidence to prove that the client has provided false information to the radio station do we really need to provide the radio station with any evidence about the case? or are we only answerable to the trading standards or other authorities/court of law?

The client has agreed to disclose all information to the radio station.

Thank you, Karen
