If a Mrs X enters into a hire purchase agreement, is it OK for Mr X to pay the monthly rental amounts on her behalf?
Similarly, if one company enters into a hire purchase agreement, would it be OK for another company (related or unrelated) to pay this monthly rental?

You should ask this question to an accountant. I believe the VAT rules affect who can be invoiced, at least in some circumstances.
