Is Online Gambling Legal in Connecticut? Online Casino Laws

Yes, online gambling is legal in Connecticut through authorized online casino services. For the state-regulated online casino channel, you must be at least 21 and physically in Connecticut, outside the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan reservations, when wagering. Casino gaming on tribal land operates under separate arrangements.
The Department of Consumer Protection, or DCP, lists DraftKings and FanDuel for online casino gaming. Its sportsbook list is different. This guide shows how to check the service, understand the casino and sportsbook distinction, and escalate an account problem. For lottery, retail casinos and other activities, start with our Connecticut gambling laws guide.
Who can play at a legal Connecticut online casino?
Check these four requirements before depositing. Eligibility depends on the person using the account and where a wager is placed, not simply whether an app can be downloaded.
Age: 21 or older
Online casino players must be 21. The lower age for some other Connecticut gambling products does not apply to casino games or permit underage account use.
Location: within the authorized area
The statewide online channel requires physical presence in Connecticut outside the two tribal reservations. Visitors can qualify; a Connecticut home address alone is insufficient.
Identity: verified personal account
Provide accurate details for age and identity checks. Use your own account, and contact support if verification fails rather than creating duplicate accounts to try again.
Eligibility: no applicable exclusion
You must not be excluded from play. Check any existing self-exclusion before opening an account or assuming that a different casino brand will accept you.
The reservation distinction concerns the legal authority for the wager. Permission to play on a tribal casino floor is not permission to use every online casino service there.
How to check an online casino licence
Start with DCP's legal gaming directory, which separates casino gaming from sports wagering and fantasy contests. Match the activity you want to play before checking the provider and website.
- Open the Online Gaming section. That is the directory's casino category. On October 14, 2026 it named DraftKings and FanDuel. The separate Sports Wagering section included Fanatics as well. Reading only the sportsbook list would give you the wrong answer about which providers offer authorized online casino gaming.
- Match the provider to the consumer brand. The name on the app can differ from the provider named by DCP. Mohegan Sun's own online casino page uses the Mohegan Sun Casino brand and identifies its casino service through FanDuel. Follow the official casino's route rather than a lookalike advertisement.
- Check the destination and product. Confirm that the service is the Connecticut casino, not a sportsbook or another state's casino. If the brand, address or operator relationship is unclear, ask DCP before depositing. An app-store listing or a company's approval elsewhere does not settle the Connecticut question.
For example, Fanatics appears in DCP's sports wagering category but not its online casino category. That is a reason to check the product, not evidence that every service under the Fanatics name is unlawful. DCP's directory is the starting point for that distinction.
Which games and products does the permission cover?
An online casino permission covers approved casino gaming. It does not turn every gambling product associated with a provider into an authorized Connecticut service.
| Product | What to check |
|---|---|
| Slots and casino table games | Use the approved Connecticut casino service. Its catalogue determines the particular games available to play. |
| Live-dealer games | These are available through the authorized casino channel. Check the casino's current menu for the specific game. |
| Poker against other players | A casino poker game does not prove a peer-to-peer poker room is available. Verify that separate product. |
| Sports betting | Use the sportsbook category and its rules. Connecticut's sportsbook list includes a provider absent from the casino list. |
| Sweepstakes or social casino | Connecticut restricts casino-style sweepstakes without the required gaming licence. A sweepstakes label is not an approval substitute. |

Why online casino and sportsbook lists are different
Connecticut's casino permissions come through its two tribal gaming arrangements. The Connecticut Lottery has a separate sports wagering role, which is why the online sportsbook list has an additional provider.
| Casino arrangement | DCP-listed provider | Consumer-facing distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Mashantucket Pequot / Foxwoods | DraftKings |
The approved casino product is distinct from DraftKings sports wagering, even though both use the same familiar provider name. |
| Mohegan | FanDuel |
Mohegan Sun markets its online casino as Mohegan Sun Casino and identifies the service through FanDuel on its own website. |
Fanatics is the Connecticut Lottery's sportsbook partner in DCP's directory, not a third online casino permission. These are authorization routes, not a ranking of operators or a claim that their games and account features are identical. Check the current directory when a brand or website changes. The casino table also does not describe gaming on the reservations themselves, where the tribal legal framework matters.
What to do if you have an online casino dispute
Keep the account history and support messages for a missing withdrawal, disputed game or blocked account. Describe the particular transaction and the remedy you want before starting the complaint.
- Contact the operator first. DCP directs consumers to the operator's complaint process. Use the casino's support route, explain the issue and ask for a complaint reference. Connecticut also requires a displayed toll-free operator assistance number, which may route callers to online help rather than a live telephone agent.
- Identify what remains unresolved. Keep the operator's answer and explain which transaction or question it did not resolve. If support requests verification, record what it asked for and when you responded. Send sensitive documents only through the operator's verified process; do not post account credentials in a public complaint.
- Escalate to DCP if needed. The Gaming Division complaint page provides the current route after the operator's process fails to resolve the issue. It directs consumers to [email protected]. Send a concise timeline and relevant records. Escalation allows regulatory review; it does not itself establish that a refund is owed.
Useful records to have ready include:
- Your account identifier, casino website and the support reference number.
- The dates and amounts of the transactions you are disputing.
- Game or round identifiers and screenshots of the relevant messages.
- Copies of your complaint, follow-up questions and the operator's response.
- The specific unresolved issue and the remedy you are requesting.
Account limits and self-exclusion
Connecticut requires online platforms to offer controls for deposit amounts and daily spending, along with breaks in play and self-exclusion. Check these settings before wagering so you know how to change a limit or stop a session.
Use DCP's problem gambling and self-exclusion page to find enrollment and support. Read the programme's current scope and terms before registering. Do not assume deleting an app closes an account or completes a self-exclusion request.
- Keep confirmation of any self-exclusion request and its stated terms.
- Ask support to explain any account control you find unclear.
