Responsibility for legal compliance re company details

Which UK government department is responsible for ensuring that UK company websites comply with UK and EU law  with respect to providing company details and conttact email address etc?

I have come across a number of websites that neither display the company registered address nor provide a contact e mail address as opposed to having only a contact form.

I believe that Trading Standards are responsible for enforcement of most of the relevant legislation – although other bodies may have responsibilities in relation to particular pieces of legislation, such as the Information Commissioner’s Office in relation to data protection law.
